All athletes must be cleared by both their own physician as well as the school doctor before they may practice with the team. In addition, the following forms must be returned to the athletics office prior to beginning practice:
INFORMATION ON ATHLETICS
Participation in interscholastic athletics and related cocurricular programs contributes to the health, physical skills, instructional maturity, social competencies, and moral values of our students. Athletics extend the educational experience while developing responsibility and cooperation. Consequently, we encourage students to participate during three seasons of a wide variety of individual and team sports.
High school students planning to participate in a sport must complete the following before reporting to practice:
1. A signed parent permission form.
2. A physical examination by either the school medical examiner or a private physician and the medical form signed at the time of the examination.
3. Health History form completed by the parent/guardian.
It is extremely important that parents list an emergency phone number where someone will always be available in case of injury during practice or a game.
To be eligible for athletics, students must earn the following: for fall and winter participation--27.5 credits on the June report card; for spring participation--13.75 credits on the January report card. Six days of practice are required before participation in a game or a scrimmage is allowed. More information may be obtained by calling the Athletic Office at 806-4290.
CALENDAR FOR ATHLETICS
Fall: Teams start practice before the opening of school. The exact date and time can be obtained by calling the high school at 806-4290.
Winter: Swimming and ice hockey practice may start as early as November 15. All other sports will begin practicing the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 26. The conference schedule will continue through winter recess and Presidents’ Weekend recess in February. Please plan vacations accordingly.
Spring: Practice for all teams will begin on the first Friday, in March. Practices and scrimmage competitions will be held during the spring recess. Please plan vacations accordingly.
